The post office wicket
Acc. 1978.001.1
Main Street · main floor
Every letter in Marrick passed under it from 1912 to 1975.
When the new post office opened in 1975, the society asked to keep one wicket. The brass is worn bright where sixty-three years of hands slid letters, parcels and pension cheques across the counter.
Come see the originals.
It's in Main Street, on the main floor. Ask at the counter and we'll tell you more about it.
